The Board and Officers may change the Code of Conduct by
a majority vote. Each member shall be subject to the following code of
conduct:
General
All members should:
- Complete the membership application, read and sign
the waiver, read and sign the Code of Conduct;
- Volunteer a minimum of 5 hours for Team activities;
- Purchase team uniform and or logo;
- Pay all debts, including membership dues and uniform
fees when they become due;
- Encourage and commend fellow members in their
training, competition and participation;
- Uphold the good name and reputation of Emerald City
Multisport, both inside and outside of Team activities, and conduct
themselves in an appropriate manner;
- Be aware of and abide by the current doping
prohibitions adopted by USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency).
- Abide by the Team Bylaws and the Code of Conduct
- Abide by the rules of the
sports governing bodies, including the USOC (United States
Olympic Committee).
The following activities shall not be tolerated from any
member:
- Possession and/or use of weapons, or illegal drugs,
or remaining in the presence of individuals who are using or taking
these items
- Fighting, physical abuse and/or verbal abuse
- Sexual or derogatory behavior
- Bullying
- Any acts which would be considered an offense under
federal or state law or the laws of the country in which the event takes
place (insofar as they can reasonably be expected to be aware of those
laws);
- Intentional damage of property. Any damage to
property is the responsibility of the individual who caused the damage.
Uniform
and Sponsors
All members shall conduct themselves in ways that promote
the aims and objectives of the Team and enhance the reputation of the Team
and the sport including using sponsors' products and services when
reasonably possible;
General Training and Racing
All members should:
- Behave in a responsible, respectful, and courteous
manner towards team members, competitors, coaches, staff, officials,
volunteers, and members of the public while at competitions, training
and while traveling.
- Only train within one’s abilities and level of
fitness, taking care to warm-up adequately prior to participation and
cool-down when finished;
- Ensure good time management, so as not to delay the
start times of sessions they attend;
- Report any medical conditions, injuries or incidents
whether at training or during events to the Team Officers and Board;
- Report any grievances or complaints to members of
the Board and Officers;
- Be encouraged to join the USAT, USCF, USMS and USATF
and receive the personal insurance coverage which USAT, USCF, USMS and
USATF memberships include.
Swim Workouts
All members should:
- Observe and respect the pace and workout routines of
other swimmers in the same lane, avoiding actions that are likely to
interfere with those routines, and maintaining good lane etiquette;
- Be aware of other pool users who may be in distress,
or whose actions may cause risk to the member, and attract the attention
of a Team coach or pool life guard in such circumstances;
- Only dive in those areas that are designated safe to
dive in.
Cycling Workouts
All members should:
- Wear a correctly fitted and fastened cycling helmet;
- Ensure that their bike is in good roadworthy
condition;
- Carry some cash, spare inner tubes and a mini-pump
on all Team rides;
- Ensure adequate hydration and nourishment on long
rides by carrying drink bottles and energy bars;
- Dress appropriately for the weather conditions;
- Wear reflective clothing and carry bike lights
during evening and night sessions;
- Respect the rules of the public roads;
- Slow down, give way or stop in the interests of
courtesy, safety or obligation;
- Avoid confrontation with other road users and
pedestrians;
- Act responsibly to promote the good image of
cyclists.
- Members shall not wear personal audio devices
(iPods, CD players, radios, etc) on group cycling activities. The only
times these electronic devices are allowed are during stationary trainer
workouts.
On group rides, members should:
- Keep to the right wherever possible;
- Ride two abreast where the conditions allow, and go
single file on busy roads;
- Maintain an orderly riding pattern at all times;
- Learn and use the Team calls and hand signals to
warn other riders in the group of pot-holes, glass, parked cars and
other hazards which may require the following riders to alter course;
- Use road bikes for all group rides;
- Remove any aero bars from their bicycle prior to the
ride (except for aero bars meeting International Triathlon Union
regulations for draft legal style racing);
- Where possible, appoint a group leader and sweeper
from the Team coaches or more experienced riders to ensure the group
stays together and slower riders are not dropped;
- Take the mobile phone number of the group leader or
sweeper so that the member can alert them in case they get dropped, run
into difficulties, or do not wish to continue on the ride;
- Pay attention to the route taken on group rides, so
that they can retrace their steps should they drop out of the ride for
any reason.
Run Workouts
All members should:
- Wear reflective clothing during evening and night
sessions;
- Carry extra warm/dry clothing to put on following a
session, when appropriate;
- Respect the rules of the public roadways, bike
trails, and running tracks.
